Savannah goes to College

Wow, I can't believe the day of moving Savannah to college has come and gone!!!! It seems as if it was only yesterday she was in kindergarten. We packed off and on for a week or more, loaded Robert's car on Monday night and my car on Tuesday night. We left our home Wednesday morning around 9:45, stopped for lunch in the Atlanta area at Panera Bread and arrived in Birmingham around 3:00 and enjoyed a great afternoon and evening there with the Reichl family -- their daughter Jenny is also a freshman at Samford. We awoke early the next morning -- I actually awoke at 6:00 AM and had to leave the hotel at 6:15 AM just to get out because I could feel myself getting emotional. I came back about 6:40 AM and we continued to get ready. We left the hotel around 7:50 and because of heavy traffic we didn't arrive at Samford until about 8:15 AM. Players from the football team and other upperclassmen students helped to unload our two cars. We then proceeded to Savannah's room and suddenly realized how very small it was when all the boxes and other items started being delivered to the room. See pictures below! It took several hours to arrange Savannah's side of the room and much too soon it was time to say goodbye. Saying goodbye was very emotional for Robert and I but Savannah seemed happy to be at Samford and on her own! Robert and I cried for the first 15 or 20 minutes after we left Samford but then we were okay. We spent the night in McDonough with my parents because Robert had a meeting in Social Circle Friday morning. It was great to see my parents, even if only for a short time. The meeting turned out to be a delightful treat because the person he was meeting with took both of us to the Blue Willow Inn for lunch --- yummy!!!!! Even better though was our dinner at home that evening -- my mom had sent us home with country fried steak, gravy, creamed corn, crowder peas and peach cobbler -- WE HAD A FEAST!!!!!

Savannah did fall out of her lofted bed this morning and hurt her back so please pray with us that she won't fall out again!!!!!! Her classes start on Monday so I will post later in the week to let you all know what she thinks of college classes.

The room after it was all finished!

Savannah is Now Officially a Senior

I cannot believe our sweet daughter, Savannah, is now officially a senior in high school! It seems as if it were yesterday she was jumping out of the bath tub and running through the house naked just shrieking, laughing, and singing "achy breaky heart" in a huge southern drawl, or just randomly singing "Jesus Loves Me" or "Lord Prepare Me to Be a Sanctuary" in her sleep or just riding down the road! She finished her junior year exams today and she will be working two jobs this summer along with taking one college class as a joint enrollment student. She will be working at the Augusta Jewish Community Center as a camp counselor, and with the Campbell family as a child care provider. She will be heading off next week for a Youth Leadership Retreat with our church to Folly Beach, SC, and then in July she will travel to Utah for a mission trip.
